This listing is for ONE of these; there is a fake listing that looks like you could get 3 for this price, and ebay is going to remove it…thank you…This auction is for a phantom power conversion circuit for those great early Electro-Voice hand-held condenser mics, models PL76, PL76a, 1776, etc, which originally used a no-longer-made 4.5 volt mercury battery; Electrovoice used to offer their model 506a circuit for this, but this unit is an improvement, with voltage regulation instead of just resistive loading. We build this circuit in our shop and have sold a few hundred of them now, to everyone’s satisfaction…You will have to be able to solder to install this, or have someone do it for you, and then you can no longer use a battery; there are only 4 wires, very simple, as the diagram shows…these next paragraphs are your instructions for installation:The first thing to do is remove the xlr insert from the end of the mic; the insert is held by a set screw, which turns counter-clockwise, but goes in(left-hand thread); do not remove any wires from the insert…The black and green wires go through the opening in the casting at the bottom of the battery compartment, into the area behind the xlr; they go on pins 2 and 3 of the xlr, and the order of those doesn’t matter; do not remove what is already soldered on those pins; the white wire goes on the negative battery contact, or on pin 1 of the xlr…Be sure to clean around that set screw that holds the xlr insert into the end of the mic, and around the hole inside the mic shaft; it needs to have solid electrical contact or the mic won’t work, and some of these mics had glue on the screw, which can be a problem if not scraped off…Then replace the insert, letting the wires push up into the battery pocket, not folded up behind the insert, they won’t fit there…finally, the red wire gets soldered to the battery positive contact, and you’re all set…We also had a couple of these mics listed, with the conversion already installed; that’s one in the first pic, obviously not included in this sale….postage for one or for several of these will cost $5 in the 48 states; please email with any questions… Your bid is your agreement to all of the following.
