This is a Rare 1st Version Mitchell Auto Lighting Cast (ALC) 440A with Raised name plate in White and White Lighting Cast above Circa 1984 ! Mint! Reel is fully Restored and working Perfectly. Bail Lock is working , Silent AR is perfect . Shimmed perfectly Rotor to Body with No Play ! This model has the Needle Bearing in the Rotor , Everything is Correct ! Bail is super crispy everything is working silky smooth like Factory new. NOS Face Plate screws ,handle Lube Port screw and much more ! Also comes with a genuine Vintage Reel Case. These ALCs getting Rarer and Hard to come by especially First Vrs ! These ALCs were made from 1983 to 1989 mostly for the European market. I also have listed a 2nd Vrs and a Super Rare 441A Black The 440A models are 5 to 1 Ratio of line retrieve. Mechanically another 10+++Paint 9.9 Collector Quality ! Stand is not included in the Sale… These Reels ( Auto Bails ) almost never are working properly due to the complexity of the Bails system. All of my AB listings are preforming like new after a minimum of 2 hours or more of complete breakdown cleaning and replacing all excessively worn parts with NOS parts. Just recommend adding a Quality Gun Oil from the Lube Port and Bail assembly after each fishing Season… Interesting fact, these ALCs were designed to open the bail by depressing the Red cover on the Bail Assembly to avoid bending the Wires.. ( see my other listing about bail wires ) Another helpful tip ! Mitchell Reels tend to pump up excess Oil to the Baffle Plate around shaft , Remove Spool and wipe off regularly all excess Oil in this area to avoid dirt and sand building up in the Rotor..
