Antique 18ct Yellow Gold European Cut Diamond Ring “Toi Et Moi” Size P. Solid 18ct yellow gold Estimated to date around 1890 possibly a bit earlier In fair condition, the ring has seen some wear over the years. There’s some fine scratches on the the ring band and setting but nothing really noticeable The ring is a Toi Et Moi style ring. An earlier style engagement ring There is two smaller issues with this ring. The first issue being that one of the little scrolls on the side profile of the ring is missing. The second thing to mention is that the ring band has been filed down previously to accommodate a larger size. Doesn’t affect the ring in anyway other than there being no Hallmarks to this ring The ring is also slightly oval shaped. Still can be worn in its current condition The gold purity of this ring has been tested and was confirmed to be solid 18ct yellow gold. The white metal was tested and found to be white gold. The metal purity was a little bit difficult to test as I didn’t want to damage the setting being that is is small. I found the purity of the white gold to be around 14ct which would make sense as the setting material would need to be harder to wear away to accommodate the diamonds. Totally normal and expected for this era of manufacturing for this ring The two main stones are both natural white diamonds Both diamonds are old European cut Each diamond has an estimated carat weight of 0.10ct. A total combined carat weight of 0.20ct There are no visible chips or scratches on either of the diamonds They have never been removed from their settings and are not loose The diamonds have been tested and were confirmed to be natural white diamonds Aside from the missing scroll pattern and the questionable 1940s style resizing job, the ring is in decent condition for its age No signs of any previous repairs Inside diameter of 17.9mm. (Will probably go up to 18.3mm if taken to a jeweller to get is reshaped) Currently an Australian size P Ring band width is 1.7mm Ring band thickness is 0.7mm to 0.8mm The face of the ring is 3.5mm in width and the setting sits a maximum of 5.3mm tall In perfectly wearable condition.
